What Is Drop in Anchors?
Drop in anchors are female concrete anchors designed for anchoring into concrete. Drop the anchor into the pre-drilled hole in the concrete. Using a setting tool expands the anchor within the hole in the concrete.
Uses of Drop in Anchors
- Drop-In anchors used in solid concrete.
- Their main use is to insert threaded rod to suspend electrical cable trays, HVAC ductwork, and fire sprinkler pipe and heads.
- They used in applications that require a flush mounted anchor and when a bolt needs to be inserted and removed.
- A setting tool required to set the anchor in the concrete.
How to Install Drop in Anchors?
- Drill a hole in the base material with a hammer drill and a correctly sized carbide drill bit for the diameter Drop-in anchor you are using.
- Clean out the hole of all debris.
- Drop the anchor into the hole, slotted end first.
- Insert the setting tool into the anchor and strike with a hammer until the lip of the setting tool meets the top of the anchor.
- Set the fixture over the anchor and insert the properly sized threaded rod or machine threaded bolt through the fixture and into it.
